1/21/03  Inauguration day Harrisburg, PA for the new governor of Pennsylvania - Ed Rendell.  Mr. Rendell is the former Mayor of the City of Philadelphia [2 terms].  He is a beloved Philadelphia who THIS fan club owes a barrel of gratitude.  He is the person who gave Linda Hoffman the encouragement she needed to pursue Bobby Rydell Blvd and who spoke at the ceremonies on S. 11th Street.  Mr. Rendell personally requested Bobby to entertain at his Inauguration Gala this past week. What a gala it was!   Unforgettable to be a part of.  Please join us in congratulating the new Governor of Pennsylvania by dropping him a line of well wishes and tell him to continue to

The following is an excerpt from The Beatles "Anthology" book recently published.  The book contains a series of interviews with all four Beatles dealing with their recollections on their remarkable careers.  Bobby's name came up in one of Paul McCartney's interviews that we wanted to share!

PAUL McCARTNEY:  "John (Lennon) and I wrote 'She Loves You' together.  There was a Bobby Rydell song out at the time and, as often happens, you think of one song when you write another. We were in a van up in Newcastle.  I'd planned an 'answering song' where a couple of us would sing 'She loves you...' and the other one answers, 'Yeah, Yeah.'  We decided that that was a crummy idea as it was, but at least we then had the idea for a long called 'She Loves You.'  So we sat in the hotel bedroom for a few hours & wrote it.  We took it to George Martin and sang 'She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeeeeeah...' with that tight little 6th-cluster we had at the end.  (The 6th cord idea was George's --George Harrison's.)  George Martin said 'it's very corny, that end; it's like the old days, "de de dum dum wowwww" -- I would never end on a 6th.'  But we said, 'It's such a great sound it doesn't matter; we've got to have it. It's the greates t harmony sound ever.'

JOHN LENNON:  "Ever heard anyone from Liverpool singing 'yes?'  It's 'YEAH!' "

THE BOBBY RYDELL FAN CLUB:  "Ever head anyone from South Philadelphia singing 'yes?' " We agree with John Lennon...it's "Yeah"!!!  So there you have it....Bobby Rydell's famous "yeah, yeahs" [in his recordings] had a influence on the early Beatles Music!  You heard it right from Paul McCartney!

BIOGRAPHY / A&E Update!
Spent an entire day working with the crew of A&E who interviewed me for their profile on Bobby.  A crew of 5 people spent a day in my home. We talked about my favorite subject, the one & only Bobby Rydell!  Today, they were visiting with Bobby & his family.  I understand they have already interviewed Ann-Margret, Dick Clark & Fabian for the program.  These folks to a first rate job on their programs, so I suspect you will see quite an in depth look at Bobby's incredible life, career & his amazing family.  The show is airing in January, 2002.  Our web site will post the exact date, so keep checking.

Fans visit from Australia
Bobby was visited at his engagement at Caesars Atlantic City in August by 4 fans who traveled all the way from Australia just to see his show. The ladies all had been fans of Bobby's for 35 years when they saw him last in Australia, where he was always quite popular! They had been searching for many years for some place to locate Bobby's schedule when they found his web site. They planned their trip to the United States around Bobby's tour schedule and were rewarded by Bobby himself with a special greeting from the stage and later chatted with their idol backstage. The ladies made glittering banners, which they hung across the showroom that said, "Melbourne misses you Bobby", and "BOBBY" in huge gold glittering letters. The ladies told Linda Hoffman, Bobby's fan club president, that they decided on the trip because "if Bobby won't come to Melbourne then Melbourne will come to Bobby!" The ladies brought a photo collection of pictures dating back 35-40 years, which Bobby enjoyed immensely. He fondly remembered Australia as one of his favorite places in the world and loved meeting these big fans!
